The Experience
WATERBERG: Tintswalo Lapalala is located in the malaria-free 'Big 5' Lapalala Wilderness Reserve north of Johannesburg in the Waterberg region. It is a 3.5 hour drive or a 45-minute charter flight from Johannesburg. Bordered by private game sanctuaries, the sheer expanse of this unspoilt biosphere area results in no light pollution, and dramatic star-gazing on cloudless nights. Enjoying its sheltered location, the Lapalala Wilderness offers security for the herds of buffalo, black and white rhino, sable and roan antelope that are all bred on the reserve. Thirty-seven kilometres of pristine river meander through the reserve, providing opportunities to boat, fish or simply enjoy the peaceful magnificence of water-rich scenery, teeming with bird life.
